Columbia Central Junior/Senior High School

Columbia Central High School is an accredited high school in full compliance with the mandates of “No Child Left Behind” and “Education YES”. Historically, Columbia students score very high on the state mandated tests; our ninth grade MEAP Scores and tenth grade PLAN Scores were at the top of the county, and the eleventh grade ACT Scores exceeded the state and county averages in most categories.

The curriculum at CCHS is very challenging; we continue to exceed the state mandated guidelines by offering many advanced placement classes, those include psychology, calculus, chemistry, biology, language arts, and history. In addition, our offerings in the engineering field are the finest in the county; CCHS is aligned with Project Lead the Way (PLTW) and offers Introduction to Engineering Design, Principles of Engineering, and Mathematics of Engineering (Infinity Project). Thirty eight students received college credit for their performance in A.P. and Engineering Classes during the last school year.

We have added an A.P. Prep Class in Language Arts for sophomore honor students, and an ACT Prep class for all juniors.

The academic, social, and athletic accomplishments are a great source of pride for our students, staff, and community. We are also proud of our band, percussion unit, leadership class, and other “co” and extracurricular activities and organizations. We strive to instill a strong community service commitment and pride in our school. Our music program is always competitive at the State level, and our leadership class has been “exemplary” for community service projects. About 75 % of our students participate in athletics or other service clubs and organizations such as Key Club, NHS, SADD, or our Gay/Straight Alliance Club.

We take great pride in our students, staff, and our facility; the majority of our staff holds a masters’ degree in their teaching area. We are a strong academic institution with many opportunities for advanced classes, on line study, and dual enrollment at local colleges.

Community pride and support of our school district if very important to us; parents and community members are welcomed into our facility, and encouraged to take part in the educational process; school improvement teams meet on a monthly basis and parent involvement is encouraged. Our community fitness center is open for membership.
New community members are encouraged to “drop in” for a visit and personal tour of the facility with the high school principal.
